Hello,

I'm Greg Cunningham.  Students call me Mr. Cunningham or Mr. C.  I teach 7th grade language arts and 7th grade intervention reading.  I've been teaching 7th grade at PK for 7 years, and before that I taught at Dunnellon Middle School in Marion County.

I've lived in Gainesville most of my life .  In 1966 I entered Mrs. Sweat's kindergarten at PK Yonge and I graduated in 1979 (12th grade--not kindergarten).  I grew up in that light green house with the white shutters right across the street from the top circle.  My sister and brothers - Chip, Lynn, Bruce and Gary - also graduated from PK.

I began teaching at 35.  Before that I was a photographer for the University of Florida.  I am fascinated by the art of teaching and compelled to learn as much as I can.  That's one of many reasons PK is such a great place to work.

I am passionate about reading and writing in my own life.  That makes my job easier.  I know the FCAT well, and have served on a number of statewide teacher-review committees to oversee test item review and Extended Response rangefinding (it's OK if that makes no sense - go to the FCAT site for more info).

But as important as the FCAT is, it's important not to loose sight of the number one goal: getting kids excited about their own learning, and their own growth.

I am also passionate about my other job.  Paula and I have been together for 17 years.  Her "day job" is at UF but she's a relentless fundraiser and organizer for PKYPTO and other school organizations.  We have two  boys; Winston, 11, and Ellis, 9.  Both are at PK.  Together we enjoy snorkeling in springs and kneeboarding on lakes,
