What is the BPA?
P.K. Yonge Band Parent Association is the name for our parent support group for the band. There are no membership fees. All parents are members. The Band Parent Association (BPA) supports the director, instructors, and students in the P.K. Yonge band. The BPA also engages in fund raising activities. All students and parents are expected to participate in these efforts. The funds raised are carefully allocated to support band activities. Expenditures include but are not limited to uniforms, snacks and waters, trailer upkeep and repair, etc. in support of our mission.

Membership - Membership in this association shall consist of the parents and or guardians of the students in Honors Band, interested school patrons, band director and school principals. Only parents/guardians of band members are eligible to hold office and vote at meetings.

Officers - Officers of the association shall be President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. You may request a copy of the By-laws from the President at any time.

Mission Statement
The purpose of the P .K. Yonge Band Parent Association is to enhance the best interests of the P .K. Yonge Band by giving support, as requested, by the Band Director. All parents/guardians of students enrolled in the Band program are members of the Band Parent Association. Maintaining an active Band program requires support and funding beyond that provided by the school system. The Band Parent Association, a non-profit organization, was formed to provide this support.

Activities include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Purchase and maintenance of uniforms
- Provision of funds for the purchase of instruments and equipment, as deemed necessary by Band Director
- Furnishing chaperons for band events
- Provision of funds for purchase of music and supplies, as deemed necessary by Band Director
- Organization and implementation of fundraising activities
- Supply drinks and snacks to students at band events
- Encouragement of new parent involvement
- Support of the performing arts at P .K. Yonge

The support and assistance of parents is necessary to the success of the band activities. Parents may sign up to assist with various events, committees and to act as chaperons at band functions. Chaperons may be asked to ride on the buses and must stay with the band during an entire activity. Anyone who volunteers to be a chaperon accepts these responsibilities and will be expected to carry out assigned duties. The Band Director will coordinate recruitment of chaperons for overnight trips. Complete duties of chaperones are listed separately.
