Volunteering at P.K. Yonge

Who Is a P.K. Yonge Volunteer?

Why Sign In or Record My Time

Signing in allows our school personnel to monitor non-staff persons on our campus. Parent/volunteer involvement is a goal in our School Improvement Plan. The Department of Education recognizes schools for their volunteerism. During the year, the school likes to recognize our volunteers. Tracking and documenting volunteer time helps with the attainment of goals and recognitions and prevents the exclusions of deserving volunteers. Parents/Volunteers can be given volunteer sign in sheets to take home to record any calls, cooking, planning, etc. that may occur there or time spent traveling to chaperone games or other school functions.

School Check In

New for school year 2007-08 is the purchase of the School Check In system that will automatically run sex offender background checks on all visitors to the school and keep totals for volunteer hours. Remember to always first stop at the front office when coming to campus to volunteer, eat lunch with your child, chaperone a trip or just visit. Bring your Driver’s License or Florida ID into the office with you. Our new system will issue you a volunteer badge to wear while on site. It's an exciting system that will further help us protect our students!

The PKY Volunteer Application

Completing the Volunteer Application is very important for ALL. We have to be more aware who is having contact with our school and children. Having each volunteer complete an application, gives the school a way to identify their volunteers. Volunteers need to complete an application (both sides) and return to the Volunteer Coordinator.

If interested in volunteering, please contact Neila Hutson, Community and Family Liaison, at 392-1554, ext: 247 or at nhutson@pky.ufl.edu.
